The Bible App for Kids
introduced a whole family to Jesus!

It’s crowded — but a common way to live in the densely-populated urban areas of the African island of São Tomé and Príncipe is to find the landlord living in the top story of a house and renting out the rooms of the lower level to several different families.

Vanessa lived with her mother and younger sister in one room of a home like this with just a bed against the wall for all three of them, and all their belongings in a pile on the floor.

There were other children in the home, and at just nine years old, Vanessa was the oldest, which caused her to feel entitled to act out, abusing the smaller kids. When her mother tried to get her to behave, Vanessa got aggressive with her, too.

But then the social worker who came to the house to look in on an old lady who lived there began talking to the children, too, and sharing Bible stories with them from the Bible App for Kids.

Soon, seven children were meeting regularly to play with the app — learning memory verses, playing games, even praying together. And Vanessa was among the children who chose to follow Jesus!

this changes everything

This changes everything!
by President Rob Hoskins

Only a few times in my life have I ever stopped and said, “This changes everything.” When I distinctly heard God’s call on my life … When I held my first child … When I lost and then regained my sight … And the day we released the Bible App for Kids.

Kids today love technology — we’re raising a generation of digital natives. At the same time, the Church is losing a generation. Kids are not engaging with Scripture, and we’re finding ourselves on the verge of biblical illiteracy.

We wanted to close that gap, so we partnered with YouVersion, the most downloaded Bible app of all time — with more than 330 million downloads — and we worked together to develop a world-class Scripture delivery tool.

The Bible App for Kids was specifically designed with children ages four to eight in mind. It brings the Bible to life with animation and activities — fun yet powerful mechanisms — for conveying the metanarrative in a way that children can easily understand.

Today, by God’s grace, the Bible App for Kids has been downloaded more than 26 million times — on every continent on earth — and it is the most popular children’s Bible app in the world.

It is taking the Gospel to places where the printed Word cannot go. The Bible App for Kids throws the doors of possibility wide open for translations into many languages and because of the visual nature of the storytelling, it also reaches pre-literate audiences.

Rejoice with us today for this amazing OneHope program that is touching young lives worldwide!

catalina

You gave her the gift of hope —
and she gave it to her mother

Immature, self-centered, bad-tempered … she was only seven years old, but already it was clear that Catalina had issues.

And no wonder — her mother was notorious in their neighborhood for her bitterness, anger, and flat-out rudeness. If she treated Catalina the same way she treated everyone else … no wonder why Catalina also acted out.

But Catalina had one friend, a neighbor named Alicia, who invited her to church, and showed her how to play with the Bible App for Kids at children’s church.

The app introduced Catalina to someone she had never heard of before, Jesus, who had come to earth to rescue her from hopelessness and pain …

Catalina chose to follow Jesus Christ as her Savior!

From that moment, things began to change for her. She always attended church with her friend. She became happier, knowing that she had a friend in Jesus. She even began treating her mother with kindness and respect.

Catalina’s mother was so impressed with the change in her child, she began coming to church, too … and today, she has also chosen to follow Christ as Savior!

Refugee ministry: the 6-year-old interpreter

One of our church partners in Greece has a robust ministry to refugees who have fled civil war, ISIS, and terrorist violence. These people, who are predominantly Muslim, are living in refugee camps and in desperate need.

The children’s ministry team had been praying for an interpreter for their Friday night outreach. Many children gather for fun, games, and sharing the Word of God through the Bible App for Kids, but translation had been a problem.

Then the Lord equipped a 6-year-old refugee boy and his sister to accomplish the task! They have learned English since arriving in Greece and are now able to translate the stories in the English-language Bible App for Kids for the other children!

These children will be a part of showing their peers the plan of salvation this Easter and every week as they help the team teach from God’s Word.

The Book of Hope is for you, too!

We’re thankful for every church that partners with OneHope to help reach the next generation with God’s Word!

NoeandLuis

NICARAGUA

They had a home — a tiny, ramshackle place in an impoverished neighborhood — but their mother was neglectful, and the boys ended up on the streets scavenging for food.

They were three half-brothers, just 9, 10, and 11 years old, fighting for survival. The elder two, Wilfredo and Noe, had been caught breaking into local businesses and were sent away to an orphanage — but they escaped and came back to their little brother Luis.

Thank God, a local church reached out to the boys! They received the Book of Hope and an invitation to come to children’s church. They committed their lives to Christ, and now things are dramatically different for them!

With their new church family walking alongside them, they’re back in school, and they’re faithfully attending church and taking part in the children’s ministry, too.

Thank you for blessing these boys with God’s Word and the gift of transformation!

ukraine

UKRAINE

Masha loved her Book of Hope so much, she wanted to share it with her friends at school. She was thrilled to find she could get more copies from her church, so she took 29 copies of the Book of Hope, one for each student in her class. They loved the books so much; she soon returned with a request for 18 more copies for her friends at Children’s Club!

renata

SPAIN

Lorena brought her 16-year-old daughter, Renata, to a OneHope conference in their city of Malaga to learn about a new ministry launch. Later she wrote to tell us: “That day brought a spiritual awakening to Renata’s heart, and I can tell you that she has said she turned her heart to God … a thousand thanks for everything. We remain grateful for what you have done for us.”

elisah

SOUTH AFRICA

Thirteen-year-old Elisah wants to thank you for sending the Book of Hope to her school. What she read there made a big impact in her life! “The teachings and lessons help me to know more about God and to pray more. It is really life-transforming!” she says. “Jesus is our big Brother — and He is God.” Thanks for helping Elisah place her faith in Christ.

taha

He couldn’t wait to escape from church — and then he ran right into Jesus

He didn’t know why his older brother forced him to come to church — and he didn’t like it. The singing, the prayers, the long sermon — it all made Taha very nervous.

Especially because church was supposed to be God’s house … and Taha thought, if God was watching, He knew very well Taha didn’t belong there: the boy was a thief and a liar.

Taha angrily escaped the service as soon as he could with no plans ever to return!

But later, he happened to meet up with a team from the local church in his hometown of Grand Zattry in the African nation called Ivory Coast. They weren’t preaching, though — they were giving the Book of Hope to children and youth.

Taha took a book and began to read about Jesus Christ, the Savior who came especially to find and rescue sinners like him. This message connected with Taha in a way the sermons and singing at church hadn’t.

“It made me feel good,” Taha says today. “I can say that my life has changed because the Lord has delivered me.”

Taha committed his life to Christ after reading about Jesus in the Book of Hope. Today, he attends church willingly, and he’s committed to going to Sunday School and doing all he can to become more like his Savior.

Thanks for sending God’s Word to bring hope to Taha!
