HE HEARD THE GOOD NEWS IN HIS OWN HEART LANGUAGE

You’re sharing the Good News with children like Kodai, a Japanese boy, living in the United States.

Often it’s difficult to share the Good News with diaspora children who have immigrated to other nations. They may be lonely or homesick. But they can still hear the Gospel in their own heart language through digital OneHope programs —

Kodai found a YouTube channel from a OneHope partner in Japan that was filled with Sunday School videos based on the Bible App for Kids, and he loved it!

Kodai was so excited about his online Sunday School that he wanted to make sure it continued for other children, too. When his grandfather sent him money for his birthday, Kodai donated it to OneHope ministry.

Teacher Mitsuru sent Kodai a recorded video message of thanks, and Kodai responded with a note:

“The online Sunday School is so much fun! When you sent me a video message, I was so happy; I was almost about to cry … I am going to save up my allowance and give it to the next campaign.”

Thank you, dear friend, for sending Kodai, and millions like him, the message of salvation! Today your gift will reach more children and youth with the Gospel!

CHRISTMAS IS COMING … NOW IS THE TIME TO PREPARE

by President Rob Hoskins

Teenage Mary, suddenly visited by an angel, was endowed with a mandate like no other in history!

Despite her questions and the magnanimity of the angel’s revelation, Mary’s response is total obedience, “I am the Lord’s servant. May it be to me as you have said,” she responds.

  1. Mary understands her call. Surprisingly, our call is essentially the same as Mary’s. Christmas always seems to bring a renewed sense of expectancy, wonder, and urgency to be obedient to the call.
  2. Mary understands her times. People of Mary’s day resisted the idea that the Messiah would come while still under Rome’s oppression. By faith, Mary heard nothing but the voice of God and believed this was, indeed, the right time.
  3. Mary understands her anointing. When the Holy Spirit came upon Mary, she was immediately transformed from a fearful young Jewish girl to a Spirit-led woman infused with boldness and purpose.

I want to be like Mary, who recognized her calling and refused to waver. I pray that as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, we take a moment to aspire to Mary’s fortitude, as we renew and celebrate the reason for this season. We’ve been birthed into this pivotal moment in history for a reason. This Christmas, I pray that our hearts will be fully focused on walking in our anointing.

Bob and Hazel Hoskins School of Mission launched at Southeastern University

Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, has launched the Bob and Hazel Hoskins School of Mission, endorsed by the university board, faculty, and administration with significant excitement because of its clear mission to equip students for global missions.

One exciting facet of the school is that teenagers completing the OneHope Lead Today program internationally, who feel called to ministry, will be able to take online classes.

The School of Mission was dedicated October 7 amidst celebration of Bob and Hazel’s tremendous missionary efforts.

Make your year-end giving go even further — consider these tax-wise options

With your partnership and prayers, young people worldwide are receiving the Gospel! Now you can support these efforts with your year-end giving — and perhaps receive a tax-advantage, too.

IRA Rollover Gift

If you are 70-1/2 years or older, you can donate up to $100,000 as a rollover from your IRA, tax free. You don’t have to declare the withdrawals as income, and it counts as part of your required minimum distribution.

Appreciated Assets and Stocks

Donating appreciated stocks or other non-cash items makes an impact and may help you avoid capital gains tax you would pay if you sold the stock and donated the proceeds.

WE’RE MEETING YOUNG PEOPLE AT THEIR POINT OF NEED: CHRISTMAS IN ASIA

IN A BUDDHIST NATION, YOU GAVE HER A CHRISTMAS GIFT THAT CHANGED HER LIFE!

Christians are at risk in the Buddhist nation where Yadana lives — believers are persecuted and oppressed —

Yet our partners there are dedicated to sharing the Good News with the next generation … and that’s how Yadana received a special Christmas edition Book of Hope last year, along with an invitation to a Kids Club in her neighborhood.

She eagerly read the book and attended the club meetings, and today she says:

“Before, I didn’t know that Jesus Christ is a living God — Now, I have a chance to read and study my Christmas Book of Hope, and now, I pray to Jesus and praise him every single day. I believe He died on the cross for me and He gave me eternal life through His resurrection from death. I have given my life to Him and I believe in Him alone.”

Right now, our teams across Asia Pacific are gearing up for our annual Christmas in Asia outreaches — you’ll be helping to reach millions more like Yadana with the life-transforming power of God’s Word!

CHRISTMAS IN ASIA: IT’S YOUR SEASON TO SHARE JESUS WITH 9.3 MILLION CHILDREN AND YOUTH!

Our partners across Asia are about to kick off another huge Christmas in Asia outreach — they believe they can present the Good News to more than 9 million children and youth in 18 nations this year.

  • Christmas is the perfect time to present the Gospel in Asia.
  • Although most people in Asia don’t know what Christmas is about, there are still huge celebrations.
  • The music, lights, gifts, parties, and decorations — it makes people wonder: Why is this holiday celebrated?

This gives our partners a platform for sharing God’s Word. As pandemic restrictions allow, they will offer special celebration services and Christmas parties — and take the Good News into the streets, too. Groups perform at train stations, malls — wherever big crowds gather, our teams are there.

They use special editions of the Book of Hope, as well as digital programs — to explain the true meaning of Christmas and share the Gospel. We’ll even be sharing Christmas joy in some limited access regions of Asia where there is opposition to the Gospel.

Please be praying for our teams as they share Christmas in Asia — and especially pray for children and youth to find the hope of Jesus this Christmas. Thank you!

NATION BY NATION

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC — SHE FELT ALL ALONE, UNTIL YOU REACHED OUT TO HER

Andrea felt all alone.

“I was sad because my parents were never there for me,” she says. She was angry at them … and the anger turned to depression. Although she was only 11 years old, already her mind was teeming with dark, despairing thoughts.

But then she accepted an invitation to church, where she received her own Superbook Book of Hope. She was amazed to discover that Jesus loved her! She chose to dedicate her life to Him, and things began to change.

“Now I occupy my mind with better things,” she says. “My life is better because I know God is in control, and His love always accompanies me.”

Today Andrea has a new church family — and her parents have been attending church with her, too! God’s Word is transforming her life, and we’re praying for her family to choose Jesus, too.

USA —

Kyle says he and his children are excited about their new Friday morning tradition: studying God’s Word together through the Bible App for Kids. “Spending time together and studying the Bible before school — thanks YouVersion and OneHope. We love it!”

NICARAGUA —

Lead Today has been a great blessing in my life!” says 12-year-old Genesis. “I’ve learned it’s important to be responsible for my attitudes and actions because I’m always influencing someone else. I want to influence others in a positive way, for the glory of God.”

SPAIN —

Fabrizio, a 12-year-old boy, is also thanking God for the Lead Today program. He says, “It’s a great course, and I have been able to learn a lot! The lesson that impacted me most is about priorities — and how important it is to put God first. That’s why I want to make going to church a priority.”
