The Lusophone region consists of countries whose official language is Portuguese. This region includes seven different countries in three major areas of the world – Africa, Indonesia and Europe.

This makes it a very culturally diverse region with what are considered “old” countries (Portugal), specific countries (East Timor) and Africa in the middle. Each country comes with its own set of challenges and opportunities.

Beatrice‘s Story

Beatrice was only eight years old and had already been hospitalized several times. She was born into a poor family, but our partner church often aided them with clothing and gifts. When she was well enough she joined the God’s Big Story Club and soon came to know Christ as Savior! Then she began bringing her cousins with her and sharing the Gospel with them. Finally, the day came for surgery to address her poor health. Her club leader spoke with her while she was in the hospital, reminding Beatrice that Jesus would be with her “I know He is with me!” Beatrice said with confidence. “I feel Him in my heart.” Her surgery was a success, and today, Beatrice is healthy and joyful in Jesus. She continues to share her faith with family and friends and recently persuaded her mother and grandmother to come to church with her.
