For Milana, 6, the war wasn’t just something happening around her. It had taken her father away, placing him directly in danger.
By God’s grace, he had kept in touch with his family back home via cell phone.
Then one day … the calls stopped.
It’s not difficult to imagine the terror and anxiety that gripped Milana’s heart! She had friends whose relatives had died in the fighting … What if her father had been killed?
Thankfully, Milana had been attending a children’s Bible study you make possible, and she had received the Onward: Journey to the Light Book of Hope.
The next time she attended Bible study, she told Iryna, a OneHope team member, about her dad’s disappearance. Near tears, she shared, “All my friends say he’s already dead. That’s why he’s not calling.”
Iryna told Milana, “You might not reach your dad now, and maybe you feel helpless, but God is there with your dad. Let’s pray together for God to protect him.”
She led the children in prayer … and several days later, Milana heard from her father again! He had been wounded, but he was alive.
“Children from various religious backgrounds attend our evangelism club,” Iryna says, “and I do believe that these encounters with God help the children to develop their own spiritual journey.”
Thank you for reaching out to Milana with God’s Word and His love!
